A283 grade D carbon steel plate sheet is required to have high toughness

ASTM A242 is a kind of high strength low alloy steel with good atmospheric corrosion resistance. Some applications show that it A283 grade D carbon steel plate sheet has better corrosion resistance than ASTM A36 steel plate and ASTM a572 50 steel plate. Like weathering steel, it can be used without painting, and corrosion naturally stops and becomes a protective layer.

Compared with A283 grade D carbon steel plate sheet, boiler steel plates should have the following properties: (1) High medium temperature strength: low and medium pressure boiler drums use steel with a lower yield point, high pressure boilers use steel with a high yield point. (2) Good plasticity, impact toughness, cold bending and welding performance. (3) The notch sensitivity is small, that is, the sensitivity to the stress concentration caused by the opening of the steel plate surface and the welding of the pipe head is small.

For A572 Grade 50 steel, the C element content is 0.23%, the Si element content is 0.4% max, the Mn element content is 1.35% max, the P element content is 0.004% max, the S element content is 0.05% max, the V element content is 0.06%, the Ni element content is 0.015%, the Co element content is 0.05%.
