No. 45 steel is commonly used medium carbon quenched and tempered structural steel. The cold plasticity of No. 45 steel is generally better than SM490C carbon steel plate sheet. Annealing and normalizing are better than quenching and tempering. No. 45 steel has higher strength and better machinability than Q345 steel. After proper heat treatment, it can obtain certain toughness, plasticity and wear resistance. No. 45 steel SM490C carbon steel plate sheet is suitable for hydrogen welding and argon arc welding, but not suitable for gas welding. Preheating is required before welding, and stress relief annealing shall be conducted after welding.

As to the Chemical composition, the different content is a main on carbon content, while the carbon content of SM490C carbon steel plate sheet, A283Gr. D is no more than 0.27% and it is higher than Grade C (≤0.24%) ; as to the mechanical property, the differences are tensile strength and yield strength, while the tensile strength of ASTM A283 Gr.D is 415-550MPa (60-80 ksi) and yield strength of ASTM A283 Grade D is 230MPa (33 ksi).
