Adding a small amount of rare earth elements can desulfurize and degas, purify steel, improve toughness and process performance.

The tensile strength of A36 steel plate is 58-80 Ksi (about 400-550MPa), and the yield strength is 36 Ksi (about 250MPa); the tensile strength of Q235 steel plate is 370-500 MPa, and the yield strength is 235MPa; the tensile strength of SS400 steel plate is 400-510MPa, and the yield strength is 245MPa. For the mechanical properties of JIS carbon steel SM570 CS plate, SS400 steel plate and Q235 steel plate, the thickness of steel plate is less than 16mm. It can be seen from the above data that ASME A36 and Chinese Q235 are named after the yield strength of the material, while SS400 is named after the tensile strength of the material.
