ASME SA537 pressure vessel uses heat-treated carbon-manganese-silicon steel plate.The steel plates supplied by this standard are divided into three categories, namely SA537Gr1, SA537Gr2, and SA537Gr3. The maximum thickness of steel plates corresponding to these three grades is limited to: SA537Gr1 is not more than 100mm;The thickness of SA537Gr2 does not exceed 150mm;The thickness of SA537Gr3 does not exceed 150mm.

Both steelmaking and ironmaking are carried out by oxidation-reduction reaction, but there are great differences between them in reaction objects: ironmaking is to reduce iron, while S355ML carbon steel plate sheet steelmaking is to remove excessive carbon and other impurities in pig iron, so there are relations and differences between them in actual operation. There are three main methods of S355ML carbon steel plate sheet steelmaking: converter, electric furnace and flat furnace. The converter steelmaking process is most widely used.

Chemical elements of 42SiMn steel: C: 0.39-0.45, Si: 1.10-1.40, Mn: 1.10-1.40. Mechanical properties of 42SiMn steel: tensile strength 885 MPa; yield strength 735 MPa; elongation after fracture: 15; reduction of area: 40; impact energy: 47J. 42SiMn steel belongs to alloy quenched and tempered steel with good properties, high strength, wear resistance and hardenability. Under certain conditions, the strength, wear resistance and hot working performance of 42SiMn steel are better than 40Cr steel, S355ML carbon steel plate sheet, and can be used instead of 40CrNi steel.
