15CrMo steel belongs to Pearlite Heat-resistant steel, which has high thermal strength (δb≥440MPa) and oxidation resistance at high temperature (generally not more than 600 ℃), and has certain hydrogen corrosion resistance. So SA514 grade Q steel material, 15CrMo steel is widely used in petrochemical industry. However, due to the high content of Cr, C and other alloy elements in the steel, the hardening tendency of 15CrMo steel is obvious and the weldability is poor. The main problems are hardening in heat affected zone, cold cracks and reheat cracks during post weld heat treatment.

Both 14Cr1MoR pressure vessel steel and 15CrMoR pressure vessel steel belong to Cr-Mo hydrogen resistant steel, and they are special steel in strict sense. SA514 grade Q steel material, Cr-Mo hydrogen resistant steel is suitable for petrochemical, nuclear power, steam turbine cylinder block, thermal power and other large-scale equipment with high temperature and high pressure and connected with hydrogen or hydrogen mixed medium. Moreover, 15CrMoR pressure vessel steel has high endurance strength below 550 °C.

Tempering includes high temperature tempering, medium temperature tempering and low temperature tempering. Tempering means to reheat the SA514 grade Q steel material quenched steel to a certain temperature and then cool it in a certain way. Tempering can reduce or eliminate the internal stress produced by quenching, reduce the hardness and strength, and improve the ductility or toughness of steel. After SA514 grade Q steel material quenching, the workpiece should be tempered in time, and the required mechanical properties can be obtained through the combination of quenching and tempering.

What is the difference between Q345B steel and Q345A steel? SA514 grade Q steel material, Q345B steel and Q345A steel have slight difference in chemical composition: Q345A steel: C ≤ 0.20, Mn ≤ 1.7, Si ≤ 0.55, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.045, V 0.02 ~ 0.15; Q345B steel: C ≤ 0.20, Mn ≤ 1.7, Si ≤ 0.55, P ≤ 0.040, S ≤ 0.040, V 0.02 ~ 0.15. The difference between Q345B steel and Q345A steel is mainly in A and B behind the steel grade, Q345A steel grade is not subject to impact; Q345B steel grade needs 20 ℃ room temperature impact test.
